In order to become compatible with the USCG testing regime, the machine underwent some technological modifications.

With the improvements in place, the tests were completed in April 2020 with a PureBallast 2 system with a Boll & Kirsch filter, and the solution has now obtained USCG style approval.

Since June 2012, the USCG Ballast Water Discharge Standard has been in place.

Some IMO-approved systems have been approved for use in U.S. waters as alternative management systems during an initial period of time (AMS).
