Antwerp Port appoints International Representative for Russia
The Port of Antwerp announces the appointment of Mr. Andrey Daskovskiy as International Representative for Russia, in line with its international aspirations and to further strengthen important trade ties with Russia.
In terms of number, Russia is our third maritime trading partner and has been strongly linked to Antwerp since the days of Peter the Great. After Antwerp's very good economic and cultural mission to Moscow and St Petersburg in 2018, the idea of increasing our presence and exposure in this important area has matured.
Born in Moscow in 1963, Andrey studied International Law at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations, graduating from London City University Business School with a second Master's Degree in International Business. He completed his studies during his career with several Senior Management and Leadership training courses, including one at the renowned Princeton University, USA.
Andrey worked for the Russian Government between 1985 and 1992, where he acquired diplomatic experience with an emphasis on North Africa and the Middle East. His last assignment at the Embassy of Damascus, Syria, was that of Attaché, 3rd Secretary.
He moved to the private sector in 1993, where he worked in various business/general management positions at Western multinational branches in Russia, such as Pepsicola, Heinz, Clairol, Ursa, Rautaruukki and Profine. He was hired by the Belgian-based multinational SIbelco in 2014, where, until last year, he was country manager for Sibelco Russia.
