To prepare for the upcoming cruise season, the ship welcomed 90 crew members from all over the world.

The technical call, according to Haluk Hzlan, General Manager of Bodrum Cruise Port, is an indication that the cruise industry is beginning to recover from the pandemic.

“Today, we have taken all necessary precautions in cooperation with the officials of the General Directorate of Border and Coast, Bodrum Port Authority, Bodrum Marine Police and Bodrum Customs Directorate. The successful operation will also be an important reference for future calls. Thanks to the strategic location of Turkey, its air connectivity and ease of visa application, I believe that we will see many more calls to Bodrum, as well as the other Turkish cruise ports," stated Haluk Hızlan.

The Viking Sea sailed to Limassol after gathering crew members and supplies in Bodrum. The 930-passenger ship had previously spent a long time waiting at anchor in Trieste, Italy, after ceasing operations due to the pandemic.

In 2020, the WTTC (World Travel and Tourism Council) awarded Bodrum Cruise Port the Safe Travels certificate. It follows all required health, safety, and environmental protocols as a Global Ports Holding port, according to the press release.
