Cargo ship capsizes and catches fire in USA, 4 crew missing
Marshall Islands flagged cargo carrier vessel GOLDEN RAY overturned and caught fire near a port on the Georgia coast.
While having 23 crew members and one pilot on board, Car carrier vessel GOLDEN RAY developed heavy portside list and capsized in the St. Simons Island Sound, Brunswick, USA. Coast Guard Captain John Reed said 20 were safely evacuated from the ship after realizing the smoke.
Search and rescue operations are involving federal, state and local agencies. Coast Guard reported that "They continue to do what they can. It is a complex situation. We're looking not just for the safety to be able to rescue the people that are on board, but also to be able to provide safety for our crew. It's ongoing".
The cause of the incident remains unknown. The ship is resting on bottom, portside.
It has been announced that 4 crew, all Koreans, remain missing. Other crew of the vessel which include 6 Korean, 13 Filipino crew and American pilot rescued.
