Daehan Shipbuilding receives approval for small-size LPG carrier design
Daehan Shipbuilding (DHSC) has been granted an Approval in Principle (AIP) by DNV GL for a new design of small-size LPG carriers in the 5,000-7,000 dwt range.
Prior to the AIP, in a joint development project (JDP) on small-size LPG carriers using LPG as dual fuel, DHSC and DNV GL teamed up.
“With the designs verified by DNV GL, we are now able to offer our expanded shipbuilding capabilities to the market. The vessels will be future-proof from an environmental perspective and meet the growing demand from shipowners for efficient small-scale LPG carriers," stated Dae-Seong Jeong, DHSC President & CEO.
Although DHSC worked to create new vessel designs, in accordance with the relevant rules and regulations, DNV GL reviewed both the basic and detailed designs and offered technical advice and suggestions from their gas carrier experts to help improve the production of the design.
