
DEHUKAM Takes Big Steps in the Mediterranean with a Youth Focus for Climate

On the first day of the meeting, project coordinators and partner institutions introduced their organizations and provided a general overview of the project. The project, coordinated by DEHUKAM, includes partner institutions such as the Dokuz Eylül University Institute of Marine Sciences and Technology (Türkiye), the International Federation for Sustainable Development and the Fight against Poverty in the Mediterranean-Black Sea (FISPMED, Italy), the Priority Actions Programme Regional Activity Centre (PAP/RAC, Croatia), and Universidad Abat Oliba CEU (Spain).
During the meeting, a general briefing on Erasmus+ KA220-YOU projects was provided to enable participants to gain a deeper understanding of the program. Project management processes and work packages were discussed in detail, while principles of collaboration among partners and the responsibilities undertaken within the scope of the project were clarified. As a result of these discussions, a "Partnership Agreement" was drafted and signed by the involved parties.
The project aims to raise awareness of climate change in the Mediterranean region and encourage the active participation of youth in the process. It plans to implement academic research, field studies, and interactive training programs. Supported under the Erasmus+ program, the project is expected to last 30 months and is intended to produce significant outputs aligned with the European Union’s strategic objectives in the field of youth.
DEHUKAM CEO Dr. Mustafa Başkara stated that the project aims to reach wider audiences through upcoming meetings and events, emphasizing the crucial role of such activities in enabling young people to understand climate change and take an active role in related processes.
