Five Irish sailor injured by wave hit in Bay of Biscay
Irish flagged general cargo vessel has been hit by waves after departing from Aviles Port, Spain. Five of the 10 crew members needed rescuing due to injury.

Shortly after the ship left encountered rough seas of Biscay, the waves were as high as 9 meters. The ship's captain contacted the rescue services to report that five crew members had been injured.
Maritime Rescue Helimer Cantabrian helicopter was sent to evacuated wounded seamen, after two hours of highly professional performance in very challenging conditions, rescue team managed to airlift them, and the sailors have been transfered into a hospital.
It has been announced that the five victims include a Ukrainian worker and four from the Philippines.
Reports said that a huge wave destroyed part of the deck and swept five crew members off their feet.
