Hyundai Samho delivers first LNG-powered VLCS
On Wednesday, South Korean shipbuilder Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries announced that it had supplies Singapore's Eastern Pacific Shipping with the world's first very large containership (VLCS) fuelled by liquefied natural gas (LNG).

The shipping industry has been under pressure to minimize carbon emmissions by implementing new regulations this year to minimize the content of sulphur in marine fuels or bunkers.
This is prompting demand from tanker operators and cruise liners for LNG as a bunker fuel.
One of six ships that Hyundai Samho is constructing is the LNG-powered 14.800 TEUs containership.
The shipping company ordered them in April 2018 and they will be shipped by the thirs quarter of 2022.
