Kalmar and Nokia continues their partnership in terminal automation
Cargotec's Kalmar and Nokia will extend their existing partnership to include new technologies for port and intermodal terminal operators looking to simplify operations and improve productivity.
In new joint ventures, integrated technologies growth, and research collaboration, Nokia and Kalmar will combine their communications and cargo handling technology expertise.
Nokia and Kalmar will integrate Nokia 4G and 5G private wireless into the latest partnership programs to deliver production for use with straddle carriers, automated stacking carriers and rubber-tyred gantry cranes.
Other near-term technological partnerships will concentrate on 5G research projects in Finland, as well as on the ultra-reliable positioning of automated cargo handling equipment for safe acceleration.
Nokia will include the Nokia Digital Automation Cloud (DAC) solution as a key component of joint go-to-market and solution growth.
In 2019, Nokia announced an agreement with Kalmar and Ukkoverkot, a leading private LTE network provider, to create a wireless digitalization infrastructure for port and terminal research and development.
Nokia has more than 220 private wireless clients for large companies, of which more than 30 are 5 G. Nokia has been listed as the industry leader in the private wireless market by analyst company GlobalData.
