The container ship's captain Tommi Ritscher, who was assaulted on April 19 at Cotonou port in the Gulf of Guinea, was still in a European country and will soon be heading to Bulgaria, the ministry said in a statement.
The ministry said it was in close coordination with the owners of the ship but did not give any further details.
It's unclear what if the other seven sailors got released.
