Maersk unveils investment in Australian tech startup
Maersk has jointly given Ofload with Germany's Global Founders Capital (GFC) for AU$2.8 million in seed funding through its investment arm Maersk Development.
They joined the pre-seed investor of Ofload Flash Ventures at the capitalization table of the venture.
Sydney-based Ofload was created by former HelloFresh operations head Geoffroy Henry in February this year. This links small and medium-sized carriers with shippers, allowing for quicker and more efficient delivery of orders by freeing up what would have been empty space in the shipping vehicles.
“All supply chain stakeholders will benefit from Ofload’s technology, not least shippers looking to reduce their carbon footprint, as empty truck moves will be optimised,” Jeppe Hoier, Venture Partner at Maersk Growth, commented.
According to Ofload, Maersk 's strategic support, and the fresh resources would help fuel the company's journey to remove waste from the road freight industry.
