Nichols Brothers Boat Builders launches tug for foss
On Wednesday, Nichols Brothers Boat Builders (NBBB) launched Leisa Florence, the third of four ASD-90 class tugs for Foss Maritime.
The Jensen Maritime Consultants ASD-90 Class tugs are 100 x 40' Z-Drive tractor tugs built for the U.S. Regulatory requirements for Coast Guard Subchapter "M," with ABS loadline certification and UWILD notation.
The vessels are fitted with two main engines of the MTU 4000 series that meet Tier 4 emission requirements, coupled with Kongsberg US255 azimuth thrusters.
Over 90 tonnes of bollard pull will be provided by the propulsion kit, giving the tug exceptional pulling power and maneuverability.
The vessel is equipped with Mackay Marine Electronics and Markey winches for ship assistance forward and aft for towing the barge.
In April and September, respectively, Foss welcomed Jamie Ann and Sarah Avrick into its fleet, and Leisa Florence will join the fleet in December after final outfitting and NBBB trials have been completed.
