Princess Cruises keeps adding touchless technology on its ships
Princess Cruises is carrying out a series of new touchless guest experiences as part of its Medallion Class upgrades as its fleet returns to service in 2021.
Embarkation day will use OceanMedallion technology to reduce friction, reduce contact, and prevent crowds, streamline arrival and check-in, as well as reinvent the conventional pattern drill entirely.
Before leaving home, all guests will now be expected to be OceanReady, providing a touchless, expedited arrival experience and embarkation. In order to upload travel documents and complete a health questionnaire in advance, guests can use the MedallionClass app to provide essential emergency details and payment methods, take a security photo, configure their medallions and order accessories to be delivered to their home or ready to be picked up upon arrival.
A new approach to the safety assembly on embarkation day allows guests to watch an essential safety video on their mobile device through their stateroom TV at any time on embarkation day and verify their designated muster station with a quick, contactless check-in at any time between boarding and sailing away at their convenience.
The OceanMedallion system offers the verification necessary by the captain of the ship to confirm the check-in of the muster drill while reinforcing onboard safety and security operations.
MedallionPay is now on board and in Princess Cays, the exclusive island of the line, removing the need to carry cash and credit cards.
When buying something on the ship, the system allows effortless payment - food, drinks, goods, excursions, even laundry tokens.
