It has been announced that the fishing boat DURSUN ALI COSKUN sank after colliding with the Russian-flagged oil tanker, GLARD-2 off of Istanbul's Kilyos shore. The accident occurred in where the Bosporus meets the Black Sea.
The statement shows that three of the six crew members were rescued by other fishing boats nearby.
Turkish Coast Guard reported that the Russian tanker was traveling to the Aegean province of İzmir when the accident happened 5 nautical miles off the shore around 6:30 a.m.
A helicopter and several coast guard boats were includedin the search efforts to locate the missing crew.
Speaking to the press about the accident, chairman of the company that operates the ferry said the captain of the fishing boat was responsible for the accident.
