In a brief statement, the company said that it is the sixth and final vessel in the series constructed by the Samsung Heavy Industries yard in South Korea. The 103,000-dwt vessel was given a name by the yard in August of last year.
Altera's E-shuttle concept was used to build the six vessels in the series. As a primary fuel, they use liquefied natural gas (LNG), with recovered volatile organic compounds (VOCs) as a secondary fuel. Battery packs are also installed on each vessel for versatile power delivery and blackout prevention.
The Altera Wave, the company's fifth LNG-fueled DP2 shuttle tanker, has already been shipped. The ship has already docked in the North Sea of Norway.
The vessels will join Altera's North Sea contract of affreightment (CoA) shuttle tanker fleet.
