Ares Shipyard will commence the construction in August. The FPB system will be delivered by December 2020 and sea trials will be performed in all of the territorial waters of the region.
Serial construction is expected to begin next year. The shipbuilder must deliver six ships every two months to the customer.
“The project represents the largest volume serial production in Turkey’s shipbuilding history, and it will certainly put a significant record in the world’s shipbuilding archives as well,” said Utku Alanc, CEO of ARES Shipyard.
All 122 FPBs must be delivered within six years.
The shipyard says that the boats will have a 100% domestic design. Each FPB will feature twin HamiltonJet HJX29 BlueARROW-controlled waterjets.
“The project is planned to last five years and will involve construction and delivery of 122-ARES 35 FPB boats to meet the needs of the Turkish Coastguard. We will deliver six boats every two months based on our production program,” Alanc added.
ARES Shipyard was founded in 2006 by the Kalafatoglu family for the production of marine vessels. Today, Ares Shipyard is one of the fastest-growing companies of Turkey.
