On the second Saturday of the boot 2017, January 28th, SönkeRoever, together with other well-known speakers, invites the international audience at the Düsseldorf boat show to an exciting day seminar.

More than 1500 participants have already listened to SönkeRoever and the other experts on the panel over the past years at the annual German workshop at the boot. And all of them made good use of the information in their preparation for their various long-distance cruises. The workshop, in German as well as in English, covers all important issues regarding the right equipment of the yacht, energy management on board, communication, medicine, weather, crew management and competence.
Experienced Speakers on the English Panel
In addition to the expert lectures given by SönkeRoever, further highly experiences speakers will be present at the English language workshop. The popular meteorologist, weather router and coach Dr. Meeno Schrader talks about the global weather systems and explains large-scale weather conditions. The thoroughbred sailor with more than 40,000 nautical miles of experience shows how to deal with phenomena such as El Nino, Squalls or Easterly Waves and talks about the issue of accuracy in prediction models.
Talks by Leon Schulz and Dr. Fabian Steffen
Another speaker is Leon Schulz. The Swede is considered an experienced sailor and is Yachtmaster Ocean Instructor. He has been sailing on his Hallberg-Rassy 46 for several years during summer while successfully teaching on RYA Yachtmaster sailing courses in Malta in winter. In his lecture, he explains what kind of competence and mindset a long-distance sailor requires and which factors are key to a successful voyage. The broad spectrum of issues looked at is rounded off by a lecture of Dr Fabian Steffen, who is specialist for anesthesia and intensive care. He talks about the vital issue of "medicine on board".
