It has been reported that China's polar icebreaker Xuelong 2, or Snow Dragon 2, sails in Antarctica's Prydz Bay. According to Xinhua News, the vessel carries out its icebreaking tasks, as it sails with another icebreaker Xuelong on China's 36th Antarctic expedition.
The vessel is 122.5 metres long, 22.3 metres wide (402ft x 73ft) and has a displacement of 13,996 tonnes. With a maximum speed of 15 knots, or 17.3 mph, it can sail more than 22,990 miles in a single voyage and carry out 60-day expeditions with 90 crew members and researchers.
