Chinese shipyard receives Hartmann LPG order

Chinese shipbuilder Nantong CIMC Sinopacific Offshore & Engineering has received an order for Germany's Hartmann group to construct liquefied petroleum tankers.

The contract includes the construction of three LPG ships totaling 5000 cubic meters and an additional order for two vessels.

CIMC SOE, a branch of CIMC ENRIC, says the ships will be the world's first full-pressure dual-fuelled LPG vessels.

The ships will carry dual-fuelled main engine LPG from MAN.

CIMC SOE said that because of the current situation related to the Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic, the agreement was signed via a videoconference.

The two companies have previously joined forces on a number of ventures including Gaschem Beluga, a liquefied ethylene gas (LEG) carrier.
