The deal is worth $652 million, the shipbuilder announced in a regulatory filing (KRW 722.6 billion).
In the first half of 2023, the containerships are scheduled for delivery. DSME's recent revenues, with the new order, stand at KRW 8.3 trillion ($7.8 billion).
In its weekly bulletin, Clarksons Platou Shipbroking said that UK-based Zodiac Maritime was behind the order, adding that the ships would each have 15,000 TEU capacity.
As a reminder, in 2018, Hyundai Heavy Industries won a $407 million Zodiac Group contract to build four containerships.
Based on the details disclosed on its website, the London headquarters ship manager has 48 containerships, 37 bulkers, 46 tankers, 5 LPG carriers, and 14 vehicle carriers in its fleet.
