Damen 's global shipyard network provides the full range of services needed for vessel repair , maintenance and conversion to help keep vessels operational. The group has introduced a new service to the mix, aiming to broaden its scope of work in a way that directly addresses customer needs: coronavirus disinfection.
The World Health Organisation (WHO) advises disinfection of the cabin and living quarters as well as the rest of the ship when there is a case of COVID-19 on board a vessel.
DSHV's MD, Jozeph W.D. Quak says, "As with a lot of viruses, it's easier to spread the coronavirus on board a boat."
DSHV's disinfection service uses concentrated hydrogen peroxide based on methods approved by WHO. The solution is colorless and odorless, and does not cause internal or surface damage. All areas aboard the vessel will be disinfected with approved methods and prior operation will commence with an approved risk assessment.
