The development and maintenance of the IHM aims at providing the crew as well as the owners and operators of the vessel with information on the nature, location and approximate quantity of hazardous materials found onboard. Furthermore, the IHM aims at providing the necessary documentation to enable ship recyclers to plan decontamination activities in order to assure the safe and environmentally sound decommissioning of hazardous materials for final disposal and recycling.

Course Objectives
To provide knowledge about the regulatory framework behind the IHM. Assist participants to reach compliance. Analyse the preparation of “Visual Sampling Check Plan”. Inform about the potential hazards and the proper and safe sampling.
