Japan has quarantined a cruise ship carrying 3,500 people and was testing passengers for the new coronavirus.
The 80-year-old man flew to Japan and boarded the ship, the Diamond Princess, run by Carnival Japan Inc, in Yokohama on Jan 20 and disembarked in Hong Kong on Jan 25, the company announced.
"Prioritizing the safety and health of our passengers and crew onboard, we are currently working closely with the Japanese health authorities to assist in the inspection," Princess said, in a statement.
The Diamond Princess is on a 16-day cruise roundtrip from Japan.
