“USS Seawolf exemplifies dynamic flexibility and ensures maritime security and stability in the region. The crew’s technical and tactical expertise embodies the professionalism of the submarine force,” said Vice Admiral Gene Black, commander, U.S. Sixth Fleet.
To complement the undersea warfare capabilities of the US Sixth Fleet, the Pacific-based submarine operates under the command and control of Commander, Submarine Group 8 and Commander, Task Force 69.
During their stay, the crew will comply with COVID health standards and regulations to ensure the health and safety of the local community and the sailors on board the submarine.
Seawolf was commissioned in 1997, and is the class's lead submarine. The remainder of the class consists of the USS Connecticut (SSN 22) and the USS Jimmy Carter (SSN 23). Using advanced sensors, Seawolf-class submarines are quiet, fast, well-armed and fitted.
Commander, Task Force 69 is responsible for the USEUCOM and USAFRICOM Responsibility Areas submarine warfare operations. In particular, Task Force 69 consists of attack submarines and guided missile submarines capable of destroying submarines and enemy surface ships.
