This expedition will be the 40th expedition by the Ministry of Geography of India's National Centre for Polar and Ocean Research (NCPOR) and the 3rd expedition under the contract between FESCO and NCPOR.
The certificate issued by the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping as a polar navigation vessel indicates that the 'Vasiliy Golovnin' vessel is ready for the upcoming polar voyage. In addition, FESCO has obtained special permission from the Russian Federation's Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology to carry out operations in the Antarctic.
