FPSO operator SBM Offshore to receive FPSO hull from Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding

SBM Offshore, an FPSO operator, has signed a contract with Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding to build an FPSO hull.

The FPSO will be designed using SBM Offshore's Fast4Ward design and will have a crude oil storage capacity of 2.3 million barrels. The ship will arrive in the second half of 2024.

The deal comes after Petrobras gave SBM Offshore a letter of intent for a 26.25-year lease and service contract for an FPSO to be deployed at the Bzios field in the Santos Basin.

Waigaoqiao has already delivered two FPSO hulls to SBM Offshore, with a third currently being installed at the yard.
