French government to give €30 million aid to ferry companies

The French Government will help French ferry companies affected by the coronavirus crisis and Brexit with 30 million euros ($35.5 million) in payroll costs.

Owing to quarantine steps and speculation about Britain's exit from the European Union, shipping companies have suffered from lower traffic to and from Britain.

"We have decided to reimburse all of Brittany Ferries' payroll costs for the 2021 financial year. This represents a commitment of around 15 million euros," Prime Minister Jean Castex told parliament.
