“The Jumbo-SAL-Alliance would be focused on gaining logistical efficiencies, such as joint fleet operations, and benefits for its customers, such as increased flexibility and offering customers worldwide a carefree logistics solution for both breakbulk and outsized cargoes,” the companies announced.
SAL, a specialist in breakbulk and project freight, and Jumbo, a heavylift transport and installation company, will combine a significant portion of their fleets, engineering, and commercial activities.
The German competition authority must approve the joint venture, as well as Dutch corporate legal criteria.
SAL Heavy Lift bought a majority stake in US owner Intermarine late last year, with former BBC Chartering CEO Svend Andersen taking over as CEO.
