Greece to quarantine all arrivals from abroad

Greece announced that it would shut down all shops apart from supermarkets, pharmacies, banks, gas stations and food delivery services and place everyone coming from abroad in quarantine for two weeks to fight against coronavirus.

Large gatherings and closed bars, restaurants, playgrounds and gyms were already canceled by Greece. The country has reported 331 confirmed infection cases and 4 fatalities so far. Health officials expect an increase in the number of infections.

The 14-day quarantine will apply to anyone entering the country, state spokeswoman Aristotelia Peloni told reporters regardless of nationality. Retail store closures will commence from Wednesday.

Athens has also prohibited Italian passenger ships and barred cruise ships from docking in Greek ports.
