“We are very happy to announce our seventh vessel acquisition in 2021 with the addition of another Kamsarmax dry bulk vessel, our fourth, to Castor’s fleet. Our focus remains on deploying our capital and growing our fleet through timely acquisitions of vessels across shipping segments,” commented Petros Panagiotidis, chief executive officer of Castor.
Castor paid $15.45 million for the ship, which will be shipped in the second quarter of this year.
The buyer and seller of the vessel were not named, and no transaction for a matching vessel has been reported in broking reports.
Castor's most recent kamsarmax purchase, the STX-built Inspiration, was made from Greece's Aegean Bulk last month. Infinity, a sister ship in Aegean's fleet, fits the definition of this new acquisition.
Castor began the year as a pureplay panamax bulker owner, but with its acquisitions this year, the company has expanded into the kamsarmax and capesize bulker segments, as well as adding its first tankers with the purchase of two aframax tankers.
