Tersan Shipyard delivered Havila Castor, the second ship of four cruise vessel series for Havila Kystruten company of Norway. The flag Ship Havila Capella which was awarded with the "Next Generation Ship Award" is carrying Tersan Shipyard's name along the Norwegian shores, Havila Castor will soon accompany her to share this pride.
The Next Generation Ship: Havila Capella
The first ship of the series, Havila Capella has been awarded by Nor-Shipping as the“next generation ship”. It is the on of the most important prize of the sector and Havila Capella has come forward among three other strong candidates. As the builder of two vessels which demonstrate the greatest advances and innovation with respect to energy efficiency, technology utilization, safety & security, and environmental sustainability for the coming decade, Tersan Shipyard reflects its reliability, quality and solution-oriented approach on the Havila ships.
Four hours zero emission sailing thanks to the ever biggest battery packages
Being identical with its sister ship Havila Capella, Havila Castor is also powered by LNG and battery, providing high energy efficiency and complying with the low emission requirements. She is equipped with 6100 kWh battery capacity which means she has the World’s largest battery pack on a passenger vessel so far. Thanks to its innovative power generation system and energy-efficient hull design, just like her predecessor, Havila Castor can sail for four hours with zero emission.The vessel can be charged with clean hydropower at the quay.
Designed by HAV Ship Design and built under supervision of DNV; Havila Castor provides Co2 emissions cut by 25 % and NOx emissions reduced by 90%. She has also heat recovery systems from the sea and cooling water.
A Sailing Hotel: High Interior Standards
Having the high interior standards and providing well-designed accommodation areas, Havila Castor is a state-of-the-art vessel bringing the best comforts to her passengers on their Bergen – Kirkenes historical coastal route.
The vessel has very high-end hotel rooms with different options, restaurants, cafes and open & closed bars. To observe the natural beauty along the fjords and see the northern lights she has an observation lounge at the top deck. She also has a conference room, gymnasium and hot tubes at the top deck for the passengers to enjoy the daytime on the vessel.
A Proud Day for Tersan Shipyard

The Chairman of the Board and main shareholder of Havila Voyages Per Sævik was also involved in the official takeover at Tersan Shipyard and stated “It is always extra special to be part of the delivery of new ships. She is a great sight that we look forward to seeing along the Norwegian coast”
