The 23,964 TEU giant is one of latest boxships ordered from Daewoo Shipbuilding Marine & Engineering (DSME) and Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) by South Korean shipping firm HMM. HMM Hamburg and its sister vessels are among the world's biggest containerships.
The 232,600 dwt vessel was completed by DSME in July 2020 and has a length of 399.9 meters and a width of 61 metres. You can store twelve containers above and below the deck of the ship, as well as 24 rows of containers throughout the board.
The HMM Hamburg is deployed on the FE-3 service between Asia and Europe of THE Alliance, and will call four times a year at the Port of Hamburg. The maritime partnership THE Partnership involves Hapag-Lloyd maritime firms, Ocean Network Express (ONE), Yang Ming and HMM.

“We are of course very pleased that one of the largest container ships in the world is named after the Port of Hamburg and that we were able to welcome HMM Hamburg to Hamburg,” Axel Mattern, CEO Port of Hamburg Marketing, stated.
The Hamburg Port is linked to South Korea via eight liner services – three container and five multi-purpose services. Last year, 255,000 TEUs were transported between the Hanseatic town and Busan and Masan's South Korean ports.
