“We would like to thank Karl Pojer for his many years of outstanding service to the Group and above all for his special achievements for Hapag-Lloyd Cruises. The entire Executive Board of the TUI Group wishes him all the best and continued success for his future. The maxim of perfection for the best cruise liners worldwide is a manifesto and are destined to endure in the company," commented Sebastian Ebel, member of the Executive Board of TUI AG.
The TUI-owned brand said that Karl J. Pojer, the current CEO, will step down after the incorporation of Hapag-Lloyd Cruises under the TUI Cruises umbrella.
It's a career promotion for Pfitzner, having previously been responsible for Europa 2 as the product manager and for the German brand marketing.
Pojer took over as Chairman of the Hapag-Lloyd Kreuzfahrten Executive Board in May 2013. He completed a remarkable turnaround for the company with a far-reaching transformation, clear brand management and a realignment of the ships, according to a press release.
In 2019, with two new ships in the expedition segment, he set Hapag-Lloyd Cruises on course for growth and achieved the best result in the history of the company. The fleet will be replaced in 2021 by a third new luxury expedition ship.
