Lundin said that, effective 1 January 2021, he appointed Daniel Fitzgerald as his new chief operating officer.
Having previously held senior management and managerial leadership positions with Lundin Petroleum, Daniel Fitzgerald is currently the COO of International Petroleum Corporation (IPC).
He was VP of Operations and eventually COO roles within IPC, responsible for activities and acquisitions across their international portfolio following the spin out of IPC.
Since joining Lundin and IPC, Fitzgerald worked in a number of asset and organizational leadership roles for Shell's upstream company in the UK.
His appointment follows the decision of Alex Schneiter, Lundin Energy's president and CEO to step down from the company and the appointment of the company's new COO Nick Walker to succeed Schneiter as president and managing director.
“This is a very exciting time for Lundin Energy as we emerge resiliently from this recent oil market cycle; the strong production growth profile to target over 200 thousand barrels of oil equivalent per day production, combined with our industry-leading low operating cost and sustainably produced barrels, uniquely positions the business for growth and the energy transition”.
