Minerva receives delivery of LNG newbuild from Samsung Heavy

The Greek shipping company Minerva has taken the delivery of its latest LNG carrier newbuild, the Minerva Kalymnos.

The South Korean shipbuilder Samsung Heavy Industries has designed and delivered a vessel capable of transporting 174,000 cubic meters of chilled fuel, almost a year after the vessel's keel was laid in March 2020.

Minerva Kalymnos is the first of three tankers in a series contracted by Minerva to Samsung Heavy. Within 2021, the second vessel in the series is scheduled for delivery.

XDF propulsion, Mark III Flex+ containment system, and an airliquide subcooler system are features of Minerva Kalymnos.

Minerva added that the vessel will begin its term employment with a major LNG charterer immediately.
