The MSC Magnifica is on a 10-day round trip of "relaxation and discovery in the western and eastern Mediterranean Sea" with plans to visit Florence and Pisa, Messina in Sicily, Piraeus in Athens, Katakolon in Olympia, Valletta, Malta and Civitavecchia in Rome at the port of Livorno.
This comes two months after the Grandiosa MSC left the same port, with a strictly Italian itinerary as well.
The first major cruise vessel to return to service was the MSC Grandiosa.
The capacity of the MSC Magnifica was also reduced to 70 percent in this initial stage to ensure social distance on board, according to the company.
Guests onboard the MSC Magnifica will enjoy the company's coordinated shore excursions. In order to not only protect the guests and crew, but also the communities in the ports of call, these excursions will see the same health and safety practices enforced on land as on board.
Both the MSC Magnifica and the MSC Grandiosa routes are only available for reservations by residents of the Schengen district.
