A MSC vessel carrying 28 tons of fruit set sail from Buenaventura 's Pacific Harbor on May 28, and is scheduled to reach its destination in the next few days.
MSC has successfully loaded an avocado shipment from Colombia to China for the first time.
From Buenaventura, 28 tons of fruit are now being shipped using Controlled Atmosphere (CA) technology, which keeps perishable goods and temperature-sensitive cargo fresh during the journey.
This journey follows a trade agreement in 2019 that would allow Colombia to export avocados to China.
Entering the Chinese market, the second largest economy in the world, represents a major opportunity for Colombian avocado growers.
