Sea trials are basically a test drive where the ship's systems are benchmarked for success with observers aboard from the cruise line, shipyard, class society, and various suppliers, and are a milestone prior to delivery. The ship's efficiency will be put to the test, including top speed, stopping distance, and survivability.
Ships will also drydock after sea trials for final tests and modifications, and may undergo another series of sea trials if systems need to be tested again.
The Odyssey will be delivered to Royal Caribbean later this month by shipbuilder Meyer Werft.
