The ship set sail from Yantian, China, on its maiden voyage on February 1, 2021. The Handy container ship is 170 meters long, 27 meters wide, and has a capacity of 1,400 20-foot equivalent units (TEUs).
Containerships is an intra-European shipping firm with 32 vessels and 700 vehicles, as well as train and inland shipping services.
Four of the company's 32 vessels are LNG-powered. Containerships Nord, Containerships Aurora, Containerships Polar, and Containerships Arctic are only a couple of them. The Containerships Borealis is the parent company's tenth LNG-powered vessel.
By 2022, the company expects to have 26 natural gas-powered boats.
Both the Port of Rotterdam Authority and CMA CGM endorse the shift of maritime shipping from fuel oil to LNG as a fuel.
