GMV will develop the initial fleet of up to 13 vessels capable of entirely robotic operations at Ocean Infinity.
ROVs and AUVs, as well as a number of other sensors or equipment, can be carried by each robot tank.
They will be remotely operated from one of three global control centers yet to be decided in Austin , Texas, Southampton, England, and a place in Asia.
GMV has already started building the first four 21-meter autonomous vessels at Ocean Infinity.
In order to reduce CO2 emissions during service, the architecture of the robots includes highly efficient propellers, engines, and batteries.
Furthermore, GMV is nearing completion of design work on autonomous vessels of 36 metres.
“We spent a long time deciding who to select to build these first of a kind vessels for our Armada fleet and are incredibly excited about working with the team at GMV who bring many years of experience building highly efficient vessels for operations in the harshest of conditions," said Dan Hook, Managing Director of Ocean Infinity.
The design of vessels is in compliance with the DNV GL class and the British flag.
Finally, the first delivery should take place late this year, and the remaining deliveries should take place in the period 2021-2023.
