Rescue workers managed to save six crew members and reached the body of one other as Bartin Governor Sinan Guner stated.
Guner told reporters that two bodies had not yet been reached and that the other three crew members were believed to have been spotted in a rocky area and that rescue teams were attempting to reach the place by land.
In a statement, the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure said the ship broke into two parts and sank in the place where it was anchored at 12:35 p.m. on Jan. 17.
The statement stated that the ship had anchored on Jan. 15 in the administrative area of the port of Bartin due to adverse weather conditions.
It stressed that the Main Search and Rescue Coordination Center under the Ministry contacted officials of the shipping company in Ukraine after the accident and were told that 12 crew members were on board.
Before the accident, Arvin was going to Burgas Port in Bulgaria.
The Ministry of Defense said search and rescue efforts are continuing with the Coast Guard Command, Provincial Gendarmerie Command, Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) and frigate teams from land and sea for the three missing persons from the ship's crew.
