Today the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management, the Province of North Holland, the Municipality of Velsen, Tata Steel, IJmuiden Seaport and Port of Amsterdam signed a cooperation agreement for the new facility.
Developing this new port is essential to the realization of North Sea wind farms.
In the coming years, several more wind farms will be installed in the North Sea, and the Energy Port will form an important operational base for their construction and operational maintenance. For example, the new Energy Port will provide funding to develop the Hollandse Kust West and IJmuiden Ver wind farms off the Netherlands coast.
The Port of Energy will have more than 15 hectares of land. Both the Averijhaven's current acreage and the 5-hectare adjacent Tata Steel site will be used to build a public offshore wind port area.
A quay of 580 meters will be constructed in the port area-200 meters as a heavy-duty facility with a water depth of 12.5 meters and a normal facility of 380 meters with a water depth of 10 meters.
