“Joining a key stewardship program such as Green Marine is consistent with the directed goals of sustainable development identified in the port’s renewed vision plan,” stated Amy S. Miller, Port Director.
In the Green Marine initiative, Florida's Port Canaveral and Port Everglades are also active.
The vision plan adopted in 2019, aims to create a hybrid port, balancing the trade of clean seaport cargo with new investment directed towards innovative skills and expertise.
The Port of Pensacola is the most diversified deep-water port in Northwest Florida. For all bulk, break-bulk, unitized freight, and special project cargo details, it provides stevedore and marine terminal services. In addition, port tenants and business associates also provide offshore vessel marine servicing, repair, and overhaul (MRO) services.
Established in 2007, Green Marine provides port authorities, terminal owners, shipping lines and shipyard managers with a step-by-step roadmap to reduce their environmental footprint willingly and measurably.
Using 13 performance indicators that include lowering air pollution, mitigating community impacts, and showing environmental leadership, the program tackles key environmental concerns.
