Joshua Carroll, vice president of port growth, replied to a query from the travel agent group during a webinar on Wednesday and said the company was still exploring homeport options.
Without a west coast cruise presence, Royal Caribbean remains the largest U.S. brand, while rivals Carnival Cruise Line, Norwegian Cruise Line and Princess Cruises have important deployment sails to the Mexican Riviera.
"We are always evaluating different homeport options. We are growing dramatically in Alaska ... which is only a summer product, so we're looking at a number of different options for the winter ... we think that pretty soon we'll have something exciting to announce," Joshua Carroll said.
Los Angeles, Long Beach, San Diego and San Francisco are main cruise homeports on the western coast.
For the summer of 2021, the company is slated to have four ships on the Alaska market. It could go along with its Alaska summer program with a winter Mexican Riviera program.
