Russian Black Sea Fleet to join AMAN-2021 exercise in Pakistani waters

The Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Navy will participate in the AMAN-2021 military exercise to be held in Pakistani waters in February 2021, along with navies from 30 other nations, including NATO.

Thirty countries have announced their involvement, according to the announcement, with 10 countries engaging their ships, and others sending official observers. In addition to Pakistan and Russia, the US, the UK, China, Japan, Turkey, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Indonesia and Malaysia will also send ships.

“A planning conference took place in Sevastopol on participation of the Russian Navy in the AMAN-2021 international exercise, which will take place in the waters of Pakistani port of Karachi. The exercise has been initiated by the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, who also provided area for the upcoming exercise,” the fleet announced.

The exercise AMAN-2021 aims to reinforce and develop military cooperation between the participating States with a view to ensuring protection and security at sea, as well as promoting the exchange of experience in combating piracy in the interests of intensive maritime trade, the fleet said.
