“Overall, about 40 ships and vessels of various classes will be accepted for service with the Russian Navy in 2020,” the admiral stated.
“Their crews underwent training under new programs at the Navy’s integrated training center, which were worked out taking into account the operation of new hardware and armament,” he added.
The admiral cited the float-out of new serial-produced ocean-going warships as an example: the Retivy corvette, and Admiral Golovko frigate.
Admiral Golovko is the third vessel of Project 22350. Project 22350 frigates are expected to become the most advanced warships in their class within the Russian Navy. These frigates displace 4,500 tonnes, and a speed of 29 knots will build. They are armed with Oniks and Kalibr missiles, and air defense missile systems from Poliment-Redut.
Admiral Kasatonov, the first serial-produced frigate of the Project, was put afloat in 2014 and is expected to enter service with the Navy in July. The Admiral Golovko Project 22350 frigate was laid down on 1 February 2012 and floated out in May 2020. Three more frigates from this Project are in the Severnaya Shipyard at different stages of their construction.
The Retivy is the sixth (seventh-built) serial-produced Project 20380 corvette laid out on February 12, 2015 at the Severnaya Shipyard in St. Petersburg. Construction of the ship's hull was completed in October 2017 and the reduction gear and engines were installed on it in March 2018.
