The new addition to the SPA fleet is another Sanmar flagship, the RAmparts 2400SX, built exclusively for Sanmar by Robert Allan Limited and designated as the Bogacay XLI.
Under the direction of a Sanmar delivery crew, mobilization has already commenced. Upon arrival at its new home in Port Victoria in Mahé, the name of the tug will be announced.
The new tug, measuring 24.4 m in length with a molded beam of 11.25 m and a maximum draft of 5.7 m, is driven by a pair of Caterpillar 3512C main engines, each generating 1,765kW at 1,800 rev / min driving Rolls-Royce type US 255 FP azimuth drives with carbon shafts turning 2,400 mm diameter propellers inside high-efficiency nozzles with internal surfaces of stainless steel. The auxiliary generator sets are also a pair of 99ekW 400V 50Hz C4.4s by Caterpillar.
The pump that feeds the external fire-fighting system with an FFS supplied monitor capacity of 1,200m3 / h located at the front end of the bridge deck also powers the port side main engine.
This combination of machinery provides a 60-ton bollard pull and a 12-knot free-running speed. The main towing winch, a DMT-manufactured double drum frequency operated unit, is mounted on the front deck.
The key aspects of an extension project at Port Victoria, including civil works covering a new quay, are currently being issued by SPA. Port Victoria, currently 270 m long, will be extended by 40 m into the sea. A new 600 m quay will accommodate larger vessels or, at the same time , two boats measuring up to 250 m in length. Room will also be provided for the construction of two mobile cranes for ships, storage yards and warehouses to be loaded and unloaded.
