Shell unveils new LNG bunkering supply vessel

Shell has announced the charter of a new LNG bunkering supply vessel being built in Spain as part of its LNG marine fuel company expansion.

Shell recently expanded its global LNG bunkering network with the introduction of the FueLNG Bellina bunker vessels in Singapore and the Q4000 barge on the east coast of North America, bringing the total number of vessels in the fleet to six.

Shell wants to be a zero-emissions energy company by 2050, if not sooner, and claims LNG is the first step toward decarbonizing the maritime market.

“Shell plans to double its existing LNG bunkering infrastructure on key international trade routes by the mid-2020s and this vessel will play an important role in that journey as we serve more customers across our global network with LNG,” commented Tahir Faruqui, general manager of Shell Global Downstream LNG.
