Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha (K Line) said Wednesday that technical management of the vessel had begun.
FueLNG Bellina, a joint venture between Keppel Offshore & Marine and Shell Eastern Petroleum, is owned by FueLNG. The vessel's Singapore debut marks a landmark for the maritime industry in its efforts to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions (GHG).
The FueLNG Bellina was constructed by the Nantong shipyard of Keppel Offshore & Marine and delivered in January.
The first contracts for the vessel will be to supply the Shell-chartered tankers with ship-to-ship LNG bunkering and for one of Hapag Lloyd's container vessels.
FueLNG will also supply LNG bunkering from the first dedicated LNG bunkering facility in Singapore scheduled for construction by Keppel O&M at its Floating Living Lab. Shell will provide the facility with LNG when it becomes operational at the end of 2021.
Designed by the technology arm of Keppel O&M, Keppel Marine and Deepwater Technology (KMDTech), to its patented MTD 7500U LNG specification, the vessel has an extended flat barge-like surface to provide a wide range of vessels with a bunker.
