The drilling company went on to say that the same operator in Cyprus had an optional job. On October 5, Chevron completed its acquisition of Noble.
Testing will be carried out on the Stena Forth rig off Israel. Between July and August 2021, the firm plans to mobilise. The rig will carry out decommissioning work on four wells, which is expected to take approximately 80 days.
The option was to extend the contract to cover the plugging and abandonment in Israel of three wells, plus one completion.
The Stena Forth has worked in the area previously. Stena entered into an agreement for exploration drilling on Israel's Karish field with Energean Oil & Gas, for work in early 2019.
The Stena Forth is a vessel of the DrillMAX Fleet and has been active in a range of areas, including Libya, Egypt, Malaysia and the US Gulf of Mexico.
The rig is actually moored off Las Palmas. It is due to arrive in Suriname at the end of December or the beginning of January.
“Stena Drilling are delighted to secure work in the Mediterranean for Stena Forth and look forward to working with Noble Energy to complete a safe and efficient campaign,” the company stated in their social media.
